Request Religious Instruction (SRI) at your school
Since 2021, UMNT has been delivering Islamic religious instruction to students in multiple primary schools across the Northern Territory. This program is offered under Section 86 of the Education Act 2015 (NT), which allows parents to request religious instruction for their children in government schools. When such a request is made, schools are required by law to provide reasonable time and access for this instruction during school hours. UMNT’s qualified instructors deliver age-appropriate, values-based Islamic education with a focus on identity, character, and faith development.
To request Islamic religious instruction at your child's school, download the parent request template below. The more families who submit requests, the more support and resources UMNT can allocate to your school!
About the SRI team
UMNT’s Religious Instruction program is delivered by a dedicated team of volunteers who operate under the guidance and supervision of our Minister of Religion. All instructors are active UMNT volunteers who have been recommended for this role based on their teaching experience or relevant qualifications.
Each teacher holds a valid Ochre Card (Working with Children Clearance) and is trained to deliver age-appropriate Islamic content in line with educational best practices. Volunteers are required to adhere to all UMNT policies and procedures to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
If parents or schools have any questions or concerns, they are encouraged to contact UMNT Admin directly at info@umnt.org.au or (08) 8900 7544.
