YES Working Group Goals:
YES Strategic Plan
Mission
To provide young adults in the Northern Territory with a welcoming and supportive environment where they can strengthen their Islamic identity through engaging activities, educational programs, and dynamic events tailored to high school students and university graduates.
Vision
To inspire a generation of confident, empowered young Muslims in the Northern Territory who are deeply rooted in their faith and actively contribute to their communities with a strong sense of purpose and identity.
Our Three Steps to Engagement
-
Darwin’s Muslim youth population is rapidly growing, consisting primarily of first-generation Muslims and international students. While many youth form their own social groups, they often remain disconnected from one another. Enrichment events aim to unite these groups by fostering a shared Muslim identity. Through meaningful, engaging activities, we build a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood, creating a space where young Muslims feel valued, connected, and part of a larger community.
-
Once the youth are connected through enrichment, the next stage is to gradually spark interest in Islam and Muslim identity. At this stage, we identify individuals who want more than just social engagement—they seek deeper purpose. These are the youth who begin volunteering, asking questions, and showing a genuine desire to learn. Stage 2 nurtures their curiosity, guiding them towards self-development and a greater role in the community as emerging Muslim leaders.
-
From this pool of interested youth, we select those ready to commit to a deeper journey. These individuals are offered structured Islamic education, including tafsir, seerah, and other advanced learning modules. They are nurtured to become the imams, scholars, speakers, and role models of tomorrow—leaders grounded in knowledge and empowered by purpose.
The ultimate goal of the YES group is to raise future Muslim leaders born and nurtured right here in Darwin. This is Youth Empowerment through a strategic pathway: Enrichment, Igniting Interest, and Education.
