A not-for-profit organization and community service centre in the Darwin region

Spotlight

We are delighted by the overwhelming support of our community, which has led to the success of the Friday prayer place in Darwin CBD. Commencing at the UMNT office and subsequently relocating to the Oaks Elan hotel to accommodate increasing demand, our Friday prayers have flourished. As we look ahead, we envision expanding these venues and embarking on exciting future projects. We encourage our community to stay tuned for forthcoming updates and developments.

Muslims in the NT

The Northern Territory shares a unique connection with Muslim culture, dating back to recorded interactions between First Nations people and Muslims predating colonization. Evidence of Muslim trading remnants has been discovered in the NT, underscoring this historical connection. The Muslim community in the region is notably diverse, comprising 27 different ethnicities. Indonesia, the largest Muslim country globally, stands as the nearest nation to the Northern Territory. UMNT serves as a central figure in the region, uniting the rich cultural heritage and service-related history of Muslims in the NT.
