Challenge with Purpose: International Women's Day 2022

#BREAKINGTHEBIAS

It’s true that not all heroes wear capes, some of them are just among us. As ordinary as they might seem they are doing extraordinary things that often go unrecognised and unappreciated. However, the United Muslims of Northern Territory (UMNT) organised an event on Challenge with Purpose: International Women’s Day to celebrate all women around us who are determined to go an extra mile despite all challenges and breaking biases.

The event took place on March 13, 2022 which was planned, organised and attended by women from various backgrounds with a single motive - celebrating ourselves. It was one of the most delightful events I have attended so far. It comprised of informative sessions followed by fun games.

As for the informative sessions, Dr Carla Eisemberg shared her experiences and beneficial information about the science outreach programs, which was really impressive. It was followed by Dr Kiran Abro’s presentation regarding women health - the menopause. Dr Wajiha Sufyan gave some practical tips to enter and adopt the new norm post-COVID-19. The guest speaker Hon Lauren Moss acknowledged and appreciated the proceedings of the beautiful event. I also got a chance to share my thoughts on how our actions have a better impact and outcome than our words!

The games were all very well organised and the hosts especially Dr. Farha Sattar, made sure that everyone gets and equal chance to participate. Everyone was thoroughly involved and enjoyed every bit of it. Winners were given gifts as well.

Alhamdulillah, all praises and thanks be to Allah (SWT), it was a pleasant and heart-warming experience. I would like to thank all the organisers, volunteers and UMNT team for organising such a fabulous and enjoyable day. I am always looking forward to more events.
