Katherine Multicultural Festival | Nisaa

UMNT (United Muslims of Northern Territory) organized a two-day Katharine trip. The trip was organized to share our identity with other communities and to conduct the program called Nisaa. The one thing I liked about the trip was that we could spend quality time with our friends and family. The trip was wonderful and enjoyable.

We had two events organized. The first one was Nissa. The Nissa event was about the empowerment of women and the status of women in Islam. The second one was the Katharine Multicultural event. The Multicultural event was about people from different communities getting to know more about Islam.

The Nisaa event occurred on the 18th of February. We got to know about the importance of women in Islam. This event educated us about what Islam teaches about women. This is a quote to describe the greatest women in Islam-” Learn Patience from Asiyah (RA), Loyalty from Khadijah (RA), Purity from Maryam (RA), Sincerity from Aisha (RA) and Steadfastness from Fatima (RA).” These are the key values to succeed in life.

The Katharine Multicultural event took place on the 19th of February. People from different communities came to the event. We had Dr. Nida’s inspirational speech about Aasia (RA), the wife of Pharaoh. The next speech was by Imam Mohanad Karmallah. He talked about domestic violence and how to deal with it. Without kids, nothing is complete, so we had the following Nasheed performances: Allah made everything and Your Mother. We had volunteers showing Islamic culture by displaying items related to Islamic culture. Then we had some activities for the kids to do. In the end, there was a quiz for high schoolers and middle schoolers. It was a memorable event for everyone.

We all had an amazing time throughout the trip. Alhamdulillah, we thank Allah the Almighty for such a pleasant trip. And we express our gratitude from the bottom of our hearts. Looking forward to the next UMNT events.
