Imam Mohanad Karmalah
Imam Mohanad Karmallah was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, into a North Sudanese family. He pursued Telecommunication Engineering while deepening his Islamic studies under the guidance of esteemed scholars in Sudan, Egypt, Malaysia. Throughout his academic journey, Imam Mohanad obtained multiple Ijazas (licenses) with Sanad, which are complete chains of transmission back to the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.S.), for the memorization of the Qur’an.
In addition to his religious education, Imam Mohanad is dedicated to providing spiritual and pastoral care. He is certified in Clinical Pastoral Education from the NSW College of Clinical Pastoral Education, equipping him to support individuals in various settings, including hospitals and community Centers. His commitment to the well-being of the Muslim community is further demonstrated through his role as an Imam and chaplain at the UMNT prayer facility in the Northern Territory.
Imam Mohanad also a co-founder of the Quran Academy, a centre dedicated to teaching Qur'an recitation, memorization, and studies, ensuring that the rich tradition of Qur’anic education continues to thrive within the community. His work focuses on fostering understanding, compassion, and support among community members.
Additionally, Imam Mohanad is a registered Minister of Religion and Marriage Celebrant in the Northern Territory, providing essential religious services and guidance to individuals and families.
